At Sips by, I designed a variety of assets to creatively enhance the physical and digital experience of their monthly tea subscription box. Much of the visual language was built upon my illustration and hand lettering.
My work focused on print design for mailers, ephemera included in the tea boxes, and some packaging design. I also designed digital banner ads, social media content, emails, website elements and internal assets such as investor decks and media kits.
I reported to the CEO and collaborated with a small, cross-functional marketing team. I mentored several design and illustration interns.
The small startup environment was ideal for my varied creative skillset. In addition to design, I wrote photography briefs, photographed and retouched photos, and assisted with content strategy and editorial planning.
In addition to personalized subscription boxes, revenue was generated through themed boxes. To differentiate these offerings from the subscription as well as drive hype and adoption, I created illustrations that were used as collectible post cards that came with the box as well as social media and website graphics.
I developed a system that allowed for the efficient export and naming of several versions of the final image, including with bleed for print, optimized for the product page, and Instagram stories, which incorporated negative space for text and gifs.
